The Members Course at RedStone Golf Club

Well great Connie

You have waited until I can't play the course where the Shell Houston Open has been played for the last three years to write a review. Not exactly; this course is so good that I recommend finding a member and getting invited. It is worth the trouble.

This is a Hardy Jacobson course (also designed both BlackHorse golf courses here in Houston), that is built on the site of the old El Dorado Country club. It is an excellent course and not that difficult if you play from the proper tee-boxes for your skill level.

Course Review
The best holes are the toughest holes at Redstone - Members Course. #7 stands out as being tough as nails and #17 rears it's ugly head as you prepare to finish a round. In between #5 is a tight 180 yd par-3 that has trouble on all 4 sides of it. Holes 9 and 18 offer tee-to-green danger on different sides; hookers will hate 18 (I still hate it that John Daly hit is driver so damn far on 18 in the last minutes of the 2005 SHO) and slicers will be totally miserable on 9.

I'll do part two of this review in a few days; but I want to leave you with good news after the whinning about the tough holes. This golf course is gorgeous, well maintained, and lets you be at peace with your golf game since you are in such a serene place but knowledgeable about all of the action and excitement during the past SHO tournaments.
